WoW Fast Leveling – Leveling an Alt Using Heirlooms

If you haven’t already, by the time you hit level 80, if you are into WoW fast leveling, you may want to consider building an alt. There are many reasons why players choose to level a second, third or even fourth character.

That’s just for starters, then there is the advantage of having different types of characters, for example, having one be a tank and another be a healer to help offer you more gaming opportunities for the end game content.

Having another character also allows you to take up another 2 primary professions, when you are WoW fast leveling this can benefit all of your characters. So you can have one character be strictly a gatherer for money, or have one make weapons and another make armor.

WoW Fast Leveling – The Downside To Leveling An Alt.

The biggest drawback to leveling an alt is, well, the leveling. Let’s face it, starting back in the newbie zone spending an hour killing level 2 and 3 monsters isn’t much fun for a player who is used to running Naxx and Ulduar with his guild. So if you are looking to level up fast, you definitely need to take a second look at Heirlooms.

WoW Fast Leveling Heirlooms.

What makes Heirlooms unique is that they level with your character. So don’t be surprised when those stats you saw with your level 80 character are dramatically downgraded when you ship it off to your level 10 alt. As your alt levels, so will the Heirloom item, keeping it at an appropriate level for the character.

Why this is useful.

Think back to when you leveled your first character. As you leveled up, you were forced to acquire new armor and weapons in order to be effective against the mobs you were fighting. This required you to complete quests, do instance runs, or hit the Auction House unless you were able to craft your own items.

This takes both time and money.

Since an Heirloom item levels with the character, it doesn’t need to be replaced until you hit the maximum level. So you can use it all the way from level 1 to level 80 without skipping a beat. Plus, many Heirlooms have the advantage of adding 10% experience for your kills, allowing you to level through the low level content that much faster.

Another good thing is that they are automatically downgraded, so if you have a hunter you will still want to pick out mail armor. Prior to level 40, the armor will take on a leather rating, and then switch to mail once that skill has been learned.

Heirloom items can also be enhanced with any of the pre-Burning Crusade items, such as the lower level armor kits and enchantments. Bear in mind that Heirlooms are not designed to replace the “best” items in the game, i.e. the “twink” gear. So if you are planning on twinking out a character for the battlegrounds, you will still need to make some investments in better armor and weapons to be effective. However, if your primary goal is WoW fast leveling, then Heirlooms will do the trick.
